Today's Quick Tip....
How to remove location info from photos on a Mac
Did you know most modern cameras and smartphones add location info to the photos you take with those devices by default?
That means anyone with access to a photo you've taken will likely be able to determine the approximate location where the photo was taken.
That might not sound like a big deal, but what if someone with mal intentions saw a photo of your child standing in front of their school building?
Or what if you purchase a new car and take a photo of it sitting in your driveway? Anyone with access to that photo would easily be able to find out where you live just by viewing the included metadata.
As you can probably surmise, in today's dangerous world either of those situations could end up being a very big deal.
Luckily, it's very easy to remove the location info from any photo that's stored on your Mac. Here's how:
1 - Open the photo in question in Preview.
2 - Click Tools.
3 - Click Show Location Info (if that option is grayed out that means there is no location info stored for this photo).
4 - Click Remove Location Info.
That's all there is to it. From now on the location where that photo was taken will no longer be displayed as part of the included metadata.
