As you probably already know, Hurricane Helene made landfall on the coast of Florida and then moved northward, leaving many communities devastated in it wake. As it made its way up through Appalachia it left many other cities, towns and small communities bombarded by tremendous flooding and damage, including my small hometown of Damascus, Virginia.
Thankfully, my home in a nearby community was spared from the damage that so many others around it sustained, but due to no Internet service I will be unable to send out a newsletter for Sunday, September 29. I hope to be back up and running on Monday, September 30.
In the meantime, please keep the numerous communities and families who have been so badly affected by this monster storm in your thoughts and prayers. As is always the case when these things happen, the road to recovery will be long and difficult for many.
Thanks so much,
Rick Rouse
