Today's Quick Tip....
Does your child use a school-issued laptop?
If so, I recommend that you teach him/her to only use that laptop for tasks and projects that are directly related to school work and activities.
The IT departments in most schools keep pretty close tabs on what the school's computers are used for, and there are any number of otherwise harmless activities that could cause your child to run afoul of school rules and regulations.
Here's a good rule of thumb...
If your child needs to do some class-related online research, write a term paper or do most anything else that's required as part of the school curriculum, it's fine to complete those activities on the school laptop. That's its intended purpose, after all.
However, if your child wants to watch YouTube videos, listen to music, chat with friends or do most anything online that isn't school-related, it's best to use a personal family-owned device for those activities.
