Here are the results from my recent survey....
I want to thank you very much for taking the time to respond to my recent survey about the future direction of this newsletter.
My email inbox was flooded with a grand total of 2,371 responses, which was far more than I ever expected to receive.
Believe it or not, I read each and every one of your emails and I even replied to a good number of them when a reply was requested. That's why I'm just now getting around to reporting the results back to you.
I kept a running tally of all the responses to each question, and the most frequent response by far was "B". In fact, with very few exceptions, "B" was the response most often selected for every question.
The only exceptions were questions 5 and 7, both of which were roughly evenly split between "A" and "B".
In case you've forgotten what they were, I have included the questions and the most popular responses below:
1 - What is your overall opinion about my daily Rick's Tech Tips Newsletter? b) It's good.
2 - What are your thoughts about the length of each email? b) They're about right.
3 - How about the number of links in each issue? b) About the right amount.
4 - What are your thoughts about the topics I cover? b) They occasionally apply to me and my situation.
5 - How do you feel about the ad (i.e. sponsorship) and donation request I place in each issue to help cover the cost of my substantial web hosting and other related fees? a) I think it's a good idea. b) I don't mind it.
6 - What's your opinion about the frequency of the newsletter? b) Once a day is OK, but I don't open every email due to time restraints.
7 - How do you feel about the "Picture of the Day" and the Daily Inspirational post and video that accompany the tech tips in each issue? a) I really enjoy them. b) I don't mind them, but I rarely pay attention to them.
8 - Feel free to answer this one any way you want to, in your own words...
Is there anything you'd like to tell me (or recommend) that you feel would make the newsletter better?
I received a lot of varied responses here, ranging all the way from high praise to recommendations and even a few messages of criticism. And I took each and very one of the to heart.
The conclusions I received from this survey...
Based upon the results of this survey it seems that the vast majority of the respondents are happy with the newsletter as it is. Therefore, I don't plan to make and major changes in the foreseeable future.
I'll still keep tweaking things a bit from time to time based upon the feedback I receive from you. And rest assured that your feedback is always welcome - both positive and negative.
As I said in the preface to the survey, my goal is to provide you with the best, and most useful newsletter I can possibly send to you. Your feedback helps keep me on the right track.
Once again, thank you very much for participating.
