Today's Quick Tip....
Windows 11: How to enable 'Compact View' in File Explorer
If you've using Windows 10 for a while you probably know that File Explorer is one its best, and most useful native tools.
Luckily, as you might expect, Microsoft has included File Explorer in Windows 11 as well.
But as good as File Explorer is, it has always had it little quirks. The quirk that irritated me the most was how there was a ton of white space between both the items listed in the left-hand column and the files that are listed in the right-hand pane.
In short, if you had a long list of items in either pane you had to do a lot of unnecessary scrolling to get to the bottom of the list.
Well, Windows 11's version of File Explorer allows you to remove a lot of that white space, and thereby reduce the amount of scrolling you have to do.
This new "Compact view" setting isn't enabled by default, but it's very easy to enable if you'd like to give it a try. Here's how:
1 - Press the Windows+E key combination to open a File Explorer window.
2 - Click View at the right end of the top menu bar, then select Compact view.
That's all there is to it. You should now see that most of the items listed inside the File Explorer window are closer together, with less white space to have to scroll through.
